TMATE (Teacher Certification)

Program Description

Tarleton Model for Accelerated Teacher Education - TMATE - has been in existence since 1986, with more than 1280 persons having earned their teaching credentials through this innovative program. TMATE is specially designed for adults who have previously earned their bachelor's degree and who now seek to make a career transition into the teaching profession. The TMATE Program in Fort Worth is offered in conjunction with Fort Worth Independent School District. TMATE-FWISD requires that you teach within the FWISD during your internship. The TMATE program, which spans 14-16 months, is organized into four phases: TExES preparation, pre-internship, internship and post-internship. The TExES preparation component begins in the spring semester with workshops in January and February. The second phase is the Internship, which begins at the start of the school year and extends through the fall and spring semesters. Following the conclusion of the school year, TMATE interns return to campus for summer course work, and this phase of the program is referred to as the Post-Internship.
