Principal Certification -Traditional and Alternative (NCELP & CEO) Program Description The Principal Certificate (39 semester hours) qualifies one to hold campus-level administrative positions in the school, including principalship. The program is designed to support the continuing professional development of career-oriented individuals and help them to become knowledgeable decision-makers, capable of providing leadership to campus and community. Tarleton offers both a traditional certification program and two alternative certification programs. The first alternative certification program, the New Century Educational Leadership Program (NCELP) was a cohort model and enrollment is restricted to cohort members. The second alternative certification program the Collaborative of Educational Organizations (CEO), represents a collaboration between school districts and the Region XI Education Service center and also uses a cohort model with enrollment restricted to cohort members.
