Program Outcomes
Program outcomes, as defined by ABET, are statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation.
The Program Outcomes for the Engineering Physics program were defined as the ABET Criteria 3 a-k Outcomes, plus an additional outcome highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of our program. The Program Outcomes for Engineering Physics are:
- an ability to apply knowledge of math, engineering & science
- an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
- an ability to design system, component or process to meet needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
- an ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
- an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
- an ability to communicate effectively
- the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
- a recognition of need for, and ability to engage in life-long learning
- a knowledge of contemporary issues
- an ability to use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
- a depth and breadth of knowledge in engineering and physics necessary to work in a multidisciplinary environment
