Tarleton Education Programs

Tarleton State University's College of Education is committed to excellence in education. The goal of the college is to develop students into professional educators that take pride in their chosen career. But the commitment doesn't stop there... the College of Education sponsors and participates in many programs designed to promote excellence in education that extends to school campuses in the surrounding area. The links below are representative of Tarleton's commitment to excellence in education.

The Tarleton Center for Professional Development of Educators is the envelope for many of the education programs that promote successful learning experiences for all students.
ESP is one of the nation's largest and longest-running school-improvement ventures. ESP uses a school improvement network linking the Tarleton faculty with campus leadership teams from over fifty Texas schools in an ongoing effort to enhance school effectiveness and provide comprehensive professional development opportunities for educators.
The Mentor Teacher program enables practicing teachers to engage in professional development by receiving training in mentoring and coaching and a workshop on technology and curriculum integration.
Approved by the State Board of Educator Ceritfication (SBEC),TAP is designed to assess skill strengths and improvement needs of Texas principals and assistant principals through activities directly tied to their own campuses.

NCELP is an alternative principal certification and graduate degree program including field-based participation at the student's supporting school district, attendance at many of the Texas conferences and seminars, special sessions presented by experts in many areas, and application of current research and technology designed around an internship as an administrator.

The MRT program supports advanced training for reading educators and offers additional support in reading for all classroom teachers.
