In order for students to remain competitive in today’s world of high-tech and global communication, every university has an obligation to provide a firm foundation which includes an understanding of a variety of cultures. Students must be made aware of the increasingly diverse nature of our world, and given the tools to survive and thrive in that world.

Tarleton State University has made an active commitment to ‘Creating a Culture of Excellence for Our Students’. This commitment cannot be complete without incorporating the broader perspective that comes from exposure to different cultures, ideas and individuals.

Tarleton has taken the first steps. Much must be done. The task Force has provided the University with findings and ideas. This publication is a public statement of promise-a promise of change. It begins with awareness and sensitivity. It begins with understanding that diversity is to be celebrated and entire Tarleton family included.

The task is not small. The path is not smooth or easy. But Tarleton is well-known for overcoming obstacles and for pursuing its vision. On the wings of a thousand butterflies, we will build a university with the united mission of ‘Creating s Culture of Excellence for All of Our Students’.
