Summary of Elementary Admission Requirements for the Teacher Education Program
1. Minimum GPA of 2.6 on all courses in
the following areas:
a. Overall on Certificate Audit
b. Reading
c. Professional Development
d. EC-4 Generalist
e. Early Childhood
f. 4-8 Content
g. Supplemental
2. No grade lower than a "C" in the
following:
a. Reading
b. Professional Development
c. English (12 hours
University-required)
d. EC-4 Generalist
e. Early Childhood
f. 4-8 Content
g. Supplemental
h. PSY 303 or 220 or HS 300
3. Current enrollment in or completion
of:
a. EDU 320
b. PSY 330 or 220 or HS 300
c. 12 hours of University-required
English
d. One full semester at Tarleton State
University
4. Completion of COMS 101 or its equivalent with a grade of "B" or better by the end of the application semester
5. Passing of the University Writing Proficiency Exam by the end of the application semester
6. Passing scores on all portions of the THEA test or an approved alternative. Note: the exemptions to get into Tarleton State University and to get into the Teacher Education Program may differ.
7. Completion of the Critical Thinking Skills Test (administered in EDU 320)
8. Completion of MATH 107
