EDU 320 - Professional Development I

You  must have 60 or more hours, not including developmental classes.

EDU 330 - Professional Development II

You must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program.  Please see basic requirements below.

Please note, due to the new professional development sequence, the following will apply:

***Students who have completed EDU 330 will be given credit for the new 330.  They will take EDU 320 next, followed by EDU 430 or 404, then EDU 435 and 490.

 

***Students who have completed EDU 330 and EDU 335 will be given credit for the new EDU 320 and EDU 330.  They will take EDU 430 or 404 next, then EDU 435 and 490.

Summary of Elementary Admission Requirements for the Teacher Education Program

1.  Minimum GPA of 2.6 on all courses in the following areas:
    a.    Overall on Certificate Audit
    b.    Reading
    c.    Professional Development
    d.    EC-4 Generalist
    e.    Early Childhood
    f.     4-8 Content
    g.    Supplemental

2.  No grade lower than a "C" in the following:
    a.    Reading
    b.    Professional Development
    c.    English (12 hours University-required)
    d.    EC-4 Generalist
    e.    Early Childhood
    f.     4-8 Content
    g.    Supplemental
    h.    PSY 303 or 220 or HS 300

3.  Current enrollment in or completion of:
    a.    EDU 320
    b.    PSY 330 or 220 or HS 300
    c.    12 hours of University-required English
    d.    One full semester at Tarleton State University

4.  Completion of COMS 101 or its equivalent with a grade of "B" or better by the end of the application semester

5.  Passing of the University Writing Proficiency Exam by the end of the application semester

6.  Passing scores on all portions of the THEA test or an approved alternative.  Note:  the exemptions to get into Tarleton State University and to get into the Teacher Education Program may differ.

7.  Completion of the Critical Thinking Skills Test (administered in EDU 320)

8.  Completion of MATH 107

Summary of Secondary/All-Level Admission Requirements for the Teacher Education Program

2.  No grade lower than a "C" in the following:
    a.    Professional Development
    b.    Certificate Field(s)
    c.    English (12 hours University-required)
    d.    PSY 303 or 220 or HS 300
    e.    RDG 351 (if taken)

3.  Current enrollment in or completion of:
    a.    EDU 320
    b.    PSY 303 or 220 or HS 300
    c.    12 hours of University-required English
    d.    One full semester at Tarleton

4.  Completion of COMS 101 or its equivalent with a grade of "B" or better by the end of the application semester

5.  Passing of the University Writing Proficiency Exam by the end of the application semester
