DME BUDGET ASSIGNMENT

Work out a budget based on the Scenarios below

bullet

Scenario #1

You are the first music teacher in a brand new school.  This school has 4 sections of each grade level, with 22 children in each section.  You see each group twice per week.  However, one of those times is with 2 sections combined (44 children) at once.  You have your own music room which includes the following items:

  1. teacher's desk and chair

  2. filing cabinet

  3. storage cabinet

  4. bulletin board

  5. computer and printer on teacher's desk

  6. student chairs

Your personal office supplies (pencils, paper, stapler, file folders, etc.) will be supplied by the school as needed.

Your music curriculum is on order and will include student books, teacher's editions and CDs for grades 1-5.  However, these materials will not be available until sometime after the school year begins.

You have $2500.00 to spend for music, teaching materials, instruments, etc.

Scenario #2

You will be teaching music from a cart (the AV type - 2 shelves plus electrical outlet) that you will roll from classroom to classroom in your assigned elementary school.  This school has 3 sections of each grade level with 25 students in in each section.  You will be teaching each section twice per week.  You share an office and so have some storage space (though limited), but also limited time to run back and forth to change items on your cart.

You have a set of music books (about 8 years old) which include CDs and teacher's editions for grades 1 through 5.  You also have a CD player on your cart.

You have $250.00 to spend
